About Jim Palermo

Jim joined Chicago Partners in May 2020 after spending nearly 30 years as an analyst and portfolio manager at an institutional asset management firm in Chicago.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and Certified Financial Planner® designations.

To assist entrepreneurial clients who are considering exiting their businesses, or buying new businesses, Jim recently earned the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation.  Jim can help clients prepare for the transaction with successor identification, cash flow and financing analysis prior to the sale, planning and wealth management following the transaction.

Jim served two terms as an elected Trustee on the La Grange Village Board, where he helped residents reduce their utility costs by permitting them to select alternative electricity providers.  Additionally, he worked to adequately fund the Village’s police and fire pension funds by using appropriate actuarial assumptions.

His favorite charities include the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Cal’s Angels, which supports pediatric cancer patient and their families, and The Legacy Guild, which provides college scholarships for local students who have lost a parent.

Jim and his wife Joan Vander Linde, a corporate securities attorney, live in La Grange and have two grown daughters.
